This course is made up of three two-hour sessions:
Situational Awareness: Personal Safety is Thinking at the Speed of Life!
One of the biggest challenges any person faces is learning how and why to trust their own gut feelings when they sense an imminent threat or proxemic danger. This training will teach you how to use the C.L.E.A.R. system of awareness, to be more aware of your surroundings while interacting with those around you and realize when it is time to implement a plan of action and mitigate the risk of an assault.
Defensible Use of Force on the Bus
An angry person boards your bus and you fear you or your passengers may be assaulted! You are driving your bus when you are suddenly assaulted by a passenger! You see a male approaching your bus with a gun in his hand after your passengers have boarded! What can you do in each of these situations? Jesus will lay out a clear foundation of what your rights are as a driver when it comes to defending yourself or your passengers while operating your bus. Jesus’ 25-year background as a Master Defensive Tactics Instructor for law enforcement personnel and as an expert witness in use of force issues allows him to answer any “What if?” questions you may have!
Surviving the Active Lethal Threat on the Bus
Jesus will discuss how to mitigate the possibility of an Active Killer on a bus as well as what to do if this type of incident occurs on your bus! He will also cover in detail how to use your bus as a tool to delay and possibly disable the shooter should they start shooting while the bus is moving. The theme of this training will be Awareness Before Defense although various emergency driving response options will be discussed along with numerous survivable physical response options for the driver to survive such an attack.
Jesus M. Villahermosa, Jr. was a Deputy Sheriff with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department for 33 years.
